We recognize that the key to our
nation’s future is ensuring that today’s young people embrace
values that will help them become effective parents, citizens,
workers and leaders.
Since youth are likely to adopt
values of the people with whom they interact, we believe it is
imperative that adults, particularly parents, teachers and
youth leaders, work diligently to provide positive role
models. They should live and teach the values they want to
pass along.
We are developing a process,
Values
In Alignment™, to help youth organizations work
with parents, community leaders and the young people they
serve to identify the values they want to communicate, and
then help the organizations align their staff, their policies
and practices with those values. That provides the basis for a
systematic program of teach and reinforce the identified
values. Our

Values in Alignment Process Map show how the
Values In Alignment
process touches the many groups of people associated with a
youth organization.
Our pilot with Boys & Girls
Clubs in Virginia shows how the Values In Alignment
process can help a valuable community resource become better
equipped to pass along positive, life-affirming values to an
at-risk audience.
